Treatments

Physiotherapy is dedicated to enhancing and restoring mobility. Physiotherapists have an advanced understanding of how the body moves, what keeps it from moving well, and how to restore freedom of motion…a key to quality of life.

We look at your movement patterns and perform hands- on assessment and treatment. We will also advise you on posture, work habits, and exercises to eliminate the factors that caused the pain. You are an active participation in the process, and should see real results in 4 to 6 sessions.

Massage Therapy utilizes a wide array of techniques designed to reduce tension. Tension held in the muscles and joints can alter blood flow, nerve conduction, digestion and breathing. It’s all about the circulation!

Deep tissue work is the use of strong pressure to release deeply spasm-ed muscles and break down scar tissue. Manipulations free up joints and relaxing techniques reduce tension, to balance the body on a more subtle level.

Craniosacral Therapy was founded by an Osteopath, Dr William Sutherland. The work focuses on feeling subtle fluid pulsations and tissue motions, and relating to them therapeutically. The cerebrospinal fluid bathes the brain and spinal cord in a tide-like rhythm called the Primary Respiratory Impulse. A skilled practitioner will be able to gain information about the body, and help facilitate release and re-organization.

Gunn Intramuscular Stimulation is insertion of needles into tight, supersensitive muscle bands. These tight bands can cause pain and altered movement patterns, so a detailed medical examination of the whole body by a practitioner with a strong knowledge of anatomy and compensation patterns is necessary.

The needle is inserted into the tight muscle band, which stimulates the healing process. The needle is removed once the desired response has occurred, usually 10 seconds to 3 minutes.

Shiatsu is Japanese acupressure, which also incorporates gentle movement and stretches. A diagnosis is arrived at through Traditional Chinese Medicine principles. Unlike acupuncture which addresses a localized Qi (or energy) blockage, Shiatsu treats the entire channel, where it might be "full" or "empty". The treatment is done on futon on the floor, and the clothes are left on. The Practitioner will stretch and apply direct pressure along the channels.

Acupuncture is the insertion of needles into the body along channels outlined in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). These channels are said to represent the flow of energy in the body, and is based on thousands of years of observation. Needles are left in for 20 to 30 minutes.
